“A Day in My Life” Photo Story
International Smile Power partners with people to improve and sustain dental health
and build bridges of friendship around the world.
‘Building bridges of friendship around the world’ includes our youth Peers-Empowering-Peers cultural exchange program. For 11 years now, local school children have been sending friendship books, necklaces, and gifts to children in remote areas of Uganda, Bolivia, and Jamaica. ISP volunteers deliver these gifts, and then bring back photos and stories so local children can learn about who received their gifts and what their new friends’ lives are like.
Please help us make this a two-way cultural exchange. We are looking for ‘A Day in the Life of a Typical Student’ that can be shown on a lap top in the most remote areas of the world. We are hoping to share an accurate, complete yet entertaining documentary.
This photo show (PowerPoint, Photo Story 3, video…)
Should include:
- What students do during a school day
- What they might do on weekends and after school
- Briefly how parents spend their time
- You or a friend brushing teeth in the morning and before bed
- Perhaps a few local landmarks or what the area looks like
- Be about 3 to 5 minutes long
Can include:
- Simple captions on the photos. We travel with translators so captions will be translated.
- Humor
Should not include:
An abundance of wealth - this will be shown to children living in very remote areas in huts built on other’s land, children in orphanages, and to youth living on the street. A little bit of text messaging and video gaming is probably necessary since it is a big part of most kid’s lives here but keep signs of great wealth out of the photos. Most places we travel to think everyone in the U.S. is very wealthy; you might even include something to let them know this is not true.
Must have:
Signed waiver giving Smile Power permission to show photos locally and to people around the world.
We are continuously accepting submissions.
